UPDATED COVID-19 GUIDANCE
Due to Welsh Government guidance to limit the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland will be closing earlier than planned, on Friday 24 December 2021.
If you have purchased any tickets for after Christmas, you will be automatically refunded in the next few days. You should not reach out to TicketSource for a refund as they have already began automatically processing refunds for tickets after Christmas.
There are Covid-19 measures in place to help you enjoy Winter Wonderland safely.
To help keep you safe Winter Wonderland are undertaking regular enhanced cleaning; providing hand sanitiser stations throughout both sites; collecting Test Trace Protect information for guests of the Ice Rink and Ice Bar; and encouraging contactless payments across bars, catering outlets and token booths.
We now highly recommend you wear a face covering while queuing for rides or queuing for your food and drink. You don’t require a Covid Pass or negative LFT result to enter either the Castle or City Hall Lawn or to participate in Ice Skating.

Join in with the ultimate winter experience, split across two prestigious locations – giving plenty of space to enjoy the ice skating, fun fair attractions, food and drink, and festive cheer that is available for all!
The Ice Rink
This year, Cardiff Winter Wonderland’s Ice Rink is back within the grounds of Cardiff Castle. The undercover 40m x 15m ice rink is suitable for all ages and abilities. If you fancy taking your skating experience to the next level, the 150m Ice Walk will run through the Castle grounds and allow visitors to skate in the most magical surroundings – against the backdrop of the Norman Keep.
Accessible sessions are available every Wednesday afternoon between 13:30 – 14:30.
Skate Aids for Smaller Guests
The famous penguins is making a come back and the colony has grown! There are now even more skate aids available for children who need assistance on the ice.
Festive Food & Drink
From hearty Yorkshire pudding wraps to toasted marshmallows, there is plenty of options available within the Castle walls.
At City Hall Lawn
Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland is also occupying its usual place across the road at City Hall Lawn. There you will find the famous family funfair with rides, including the Giant Wheel, and nightly entertainment. The popular two story ski-lodge, Sur la Piste is back with a new outdoor roof terrace, there also a brand new Ice Bar, the coolest spot in town. Enjoy your favourite sweet and savoury treats in the covered seating areas.
