Cardiff Castle proudly supports Cardiff Council’s Fostering service. As part of Foster care fortnight, the Cardiff Fostering team will be at the castle on Saturday 18th May 10am-4pm.
Fostering is a broad term used to describe a diverse and varied field. There are many reasons children need to be fostered. From parents being unwell to relationship breakdowns, parents facing custodial sentences to concerns over neglect and abuse. Just as there are many reasons for children entering into foster care, there are many ways in which people can foster. From respite carers to short term placement providers, long term fostering to supported lodgings: there are many varied ways to foster. This means there will always be a way that fits around you and your families own needs and requirements.
The theme of Foster Care Fortnight is #ChangeAFuture. Cardiff Council is proud to be a corporate parent to all of Cardiff’s fantastic fostered children and young people. By Fostering with Cardiff Council, you’ll be helping to secure stable futures by providing homes, guidance and support that will allow Cardiff’s cared for children to flourish.
This half-term, we’re lighting up the Castle Keep up orange- the colour of fostering in Cardiff.
Like the Castle, Cardiff Council’s fostering service has been, and will always be, a staple of the city. Cardiff currently has almost 900 looked after children coming from a variety of backgrounds with a wide range of needs. This means Cardiff Council needs foster carers that are as vibrant and diverse as the young people themselves.
The Fostering team will be at the castle on Wednesday 29th May 10am-4pm. Pop along and have a chat with the friendly team and find out the many ways in which fostering can work for you and your family.
