ENJOY THE PUBLIC SQUARE AT CARDIFF CASTLE

If you’re planning a trip in to Cardiff and would like a lovely spot to relax after hitting the shops, or you want to catch up with friends in a socially distanced setting, then come and use the public square in the beautiful setting of the Castle’s outer lawn.

The Public Square is free to enter and also includes access to the Castle Cafe, Gift Shop, Visitor Information Point and public toilets. Members of the public are welcome to bring their own food and drink in to the Public Square but cannot consume it in the cafe seating area.

THE KEEP TICKET

Due to demand, Public Square users who would like to climb the motte and explore the Norman Keep during their visit can now do so. From the top of the Keep, the panoramic views of the city and surrounding countyside are breath-taking and to the north you can see as far as Castell Coch.

Please note that there are approximately 50 steep stone steps leading to the Keep entrance and further steps to reach the viewing platform that may not be suitable for all visitors. This ticket is for admission to the Keep only, it does not include any other paid areas of the Castle and cannot be upgraded with any Castle tours. The Keep may be closed during adverse weather conditions.
