CHRISTMAS AT CARDIFF CASTLE
Christmas at the Castle is always an exciting time and 2023 will certainly be no exception. With Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland Ice Rink and an extended Ice Walk taking over the Public Square and the rumoured return of Santa to the Castle, there is plenty to look forward to!
Cardiff Castle will be open to paying visitors all through the festive period, during our winter opening hours. The only exceptions will be on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, when the Castle is closed.
From Thursday 16 November 2023 to Sunday 7 January 2024, the Public Square will be open daily, with extended opening hours to coincide with Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland skating times. Both Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland and the Public Square will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Also from 16 November, Cardiff Castle will be lovingly decorated in Victorian-style Christmas decor, adding an extra festive feel to your visit.
SANTA'S VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS
Make magical memories at Cardiff Castle this year with Santa’s Victorian Christmas. A festive treat for the whole family, tour the beautifully decorated apartments and learn about Victorian Christmas traditions. Afterwards, meet Santa himself in the Castle’s Drawing Room and receive a gift, followed by seasonal treats served in the Library.
CHRISTMAS WELSH BANQUET
From Wednesday 29 November – Wednesday 20 December
It’s time for festive feasts and fun in the Castle’s vaulted, fifteenth century Undercroft, join us for a very merry Christmas Banquet with traditional Welsh entertainment.
For an informal evening of fabulous music and great entertainment, the Castle’s traditional Welsh Banquet is a must. With Mead tasting on arrival and a Master of Ceremonies to guide you through the evening you will soon be joining in all the hwyl of the night!
The Public Square
Entry into the grounds of Cardiff Castle’s Public Square will remain free of charge over the festive period, so all are welcome to come and soak up the atmosphere. Make sure you pop into the Castle’s gift shop for stocking fillers that Santa would be proud of, then rest and refuel at the Castle Café.
