CHRISTMAS AT CARDIFF CASTLE
Christmas at the Castle is always an exciting time and 2022 will certainly be no exception. With Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland Ice Rink and Ice Walk taking over the Public Square and the exciting new Christmas Festival in a Spiegeltent, there is plenty to look forward to!
Cardiff Castle will be open to paying visitors all through the festive period, during our winter opening hours. The only exceptions will be on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, when the Castle is closed.
From Tue 15 November to Sun 8 January the Public Square will be open daily, with extended opening hours to coincide with Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland skating times. Both Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland and the Public Square will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

CHRISTMAS HOUSE TOURS
From Sat, 26 November – Sun, 18 December
This Christmas, upgrade your Castle Ticket or Castle Key and join a special, seasonal tour of the house, complete with Victorian Christmas stories from the time of the Bute family. It’s a wonderful time of the year to visit Cardiff Castle as, in addition to their famously lavish Victorian decor, the Castle apartments will also be decked out in all their traditional, festive finery and looking even more splendid than usual. At the end of your tour enjoy the festivities in the grounds from our covered seating area with a free glass of mulled wine for adults.

THE CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL
From Fri, 25 November – Sun, 1 January
This year you will also find a spectacular new entertainment attraction inside the grounds of Cardiff Castle. The inner ward green will be home to a 570-seat Spiegeltent, a unique venue staging three incredible shows that will offer something for everyone. Santa’s Wish, Castellana and The Nutcracker will be performed in the round, promising in every second to transport visitors to a nostalgic and magical world.
The Public Square
Entry into the grounds of Cardiff Castle’s Public Square will remain free of charge over the festive period, so all are welcome to come and soak up the atmosphere. Make sure you pop into the Castle’s gift shop for stocking fillers that Santa would be proud of, then rest and refuel at the Castle Café.
