CHRISTMAS AT CARDIFF CASTLE
Christmas at the Castle is always an exciting time but, with Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland taking over the Public Square and lot’s more to look forward to, this year will be even better than ever before.
Cardiff Castle will be open to paying visitors all through the festive period, during our winter opening hours. The only exceptions will be on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, when the Castle will be closed.
From Tue 16 November to Sun 2 January, the Castle’s Public Square will be open to the public daily, with extended opening hours to coincide with Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland skating times. Both Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland and the Public Square will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
We’re very sorry but Santa’s annual visit to Cardiff Castle has proved as popular as ever and all tickets are now sold out.

VISIT THE CASTLE THIS CHRISTMAS
Christmas is well known as the most wonderful time of the year and it certainly will be a special time for a visit to Cardiff Castle. We will be open all through the festive period, the only exceptions being on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The Castle apartments will be decked out in all their traditional, festive finery and looking even more splendid than usual, so it’s a great time to come and see them. Why not book on to a guided tour and hear stories about Victorian Christmases in the time of the Bute family.

THE PUBLIC SQUARE
Entry in to the grounds of the Castle’s Public Square will remain free of charge over the festive period so all are welcome to come and soak up the atmosphere. Make sure you pop in to the Castle’s gift shop for stocking fillers that Santa would be proud of, then rest and refuel at the Keep Terrace kitchen and bar.

AN ENCHANTING WONDERLAND
Stroll around the lantern trail in the Public Square and discover the Alice in Wonderland-themed lantern trail – with the picturesque Castle House as the backdrop. Alongside Alice, it features many of the fabulous characters from the famous books including the Lion and the Unicorn, the Gryphon, the White Rabbit, the Red and White Knight, the very grumpy Duchess, some of the Card Guards and of course lots of lovely Flamingos. There’s even a Christmas Pudding character almost good enough to eat!
